Bangladesh Journal of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases (BJGLD) is published by the Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society (BGS), the country’s foremost professional organization dedicated to the advancement of gastroenterology and hepatology in Bangladesh.
Founded in 1988, the Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society brings together clinicians, academicians, researchers, and allied health professionals committed to improving the prevention, diagnosis, and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Over the years, BGS has grown into a strong professional body with more than 320 members, representing leading institutions across Bangladesh.
BGS actively promotes a cohesive, multidisciplinary network involving gastroenterologists, hepatologists, surgeons, researchers, dieticians, and health educators from both national and international platforms. Through collaboration and professional engagement, the Society works to enhance patient care, clinical services, and professional competence within the field.
One of the core objectives of BGS is the advancement of education and training in gastroenterology and hepatology. To achieve this goal, the Society regularly organizes workshops, training webinars, symposiums, conferences, and clinical skills development courses targeted at undergraduate, postgraduate, and specialist practitioners. These initiatives help professionals remain updated with modern diagnostic, therapeutic, and management approaches in gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
Through its integrated emphasis on education, research, clinical collaboration, and public health awareness, the Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society plays a leading role in shaping the future of gastroenterological care and academic excellence in Bangladesh. As its official publication, BJGLD reflects the Society’s commitment to high-quality scientific research, ethical publishing standards, and the dissemination of knowledge in gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
